Two days before the opening of Through the Ebro Basin in Logroño, the outlet highlights the basin-unit management model and the challenge posed by extreme events. At the same time, the interview with María Dolores Pascual underscores the need for an “arbitral” institution, while other media have reported on the presentation of the Centenary book.
Just two days before the opening of the travelling exhibition Through the Ebro Basin at the Casa de las Ciencias in Logroño (29 April), the centenary of the CHE has once again made the news in regional and sector-specific media.
In a feature published on 26 April, Diario del Alto Aragón highlights the Centenary as a hundred-year legacy “to keep moving forward”. It notes its pioneering nature in managing water by river basin rather than by administrative boundaries. Among the current challenges, it mentions responding to extreme weather events.
That same day, the newspaper published an interview with María Dolores Pascual, Director General for Water at the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico (MTERD) and former President of the CHE. In the interview, Pascual puts forward a central idea for public debate: water management requires an institution with an arbitral vocation and the ability to integrate the basin’s society, “breaking through the walls” of the institution itself.
In the review of recent mentions, other outlets have highlighted the programme’s outreach dimension. Diario del Campo covered the presentation of the book Through the Ebro Basin. Through the Ebro Basin. 1926-2026 Centenary of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro on 21 April at the IAACC Pablo Serrano (Zaragoza), a collaborative, collective work that offers a plural perspective on a century of water management in the region.
Following its visit to Miranda de Ebro, the Centenary programme continues with new events in the coming weeks. On 29 April, the exhibition will open in Logroño at Casa de las Ciencias, followed by the Centenary Meetings in Logroño on 14 May, which will focus on river restoration and urban space in the middle Ebro, with presentations by Pablo de la Cal and Alfredo Ollero.
