Yesterday, January 15, the first edition took place in Reinosa. Many people came to the Chimney Room of La Casona.
There, they listened to the presentations of Rogelio Galván, focused on a historical perspective on the beginnings of the CHE and the construction of the Ebro reservoir. Next, Agustín Monteoliva provided a very complete vision of the ecological state of the reservoir and the necessary surveillance to maintain its environmental health.
The audience actively participated in an enriching dialogue of exchange of ideas and experiences, in which there was no shortage of testimonies about the harsh history of the people displaced from their homes due to the construction of the reservoir, or about the changes that the aquatic fauna of the reservoir has undergone in recent decades.
The centenary meetings will accompany the traveling exhibition in its different venues, with the desire to share knowledge and experiences in the various territories of the Ebro basin.
Interview with Rogelio Galván Plaza on the occasion of The Meetings in Reinosa
Within the framework of these Meetings, in the morning an interview was conducted with Rogelio Galván Plaza on Radio Merindad de Campoo, hosted by Mon Fernández, which served as a preamble to the contents that would be developed that same afternoon in the Chimney Room of La Casona. In it, Galván stressed that the Ebro reservoir was an “emblematic infrastructure for the entire basin”, conceived from its origin to benefit a wide territory, and recalled that the key to the CHE remains the same today as it was a hundred years ago: to manage water from the basin, because water does not understand administrative boundaries.
