1926 – 2026

The CHE Presents the Logo for its Centenary

The new centenary logo evokes a channel of shared time: one hundred years of history, links with the territory, and an open look towards the future

21/5/2025

The Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro (Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico, MITECO) will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026, as it was established as the world’s first hydrographic confederation by Royal Decree of March 5, 1926, published in the Gaceta de Madrid on the 6th.

That decree included a model of water management by basins, ahead of its time and designed to promote the agricultural, economic and social development of the territories of the northeastern peninsular.

Today, with an eye on that legacy and on the future, the CHE begins its journey towards the centenary with a commemorative image that will represent the organization in the coming months.

The centenary logo incorporates the number 100 into the Confederation’s institutional emblem. Its design has been resolved with a sober and symbolic graphic gesture: a horizontal line cuts the base of the number, generating the sensation of a riverbed, as if time were flowing under the foundations of the institution. The two zeros, split by this line, visually evoke the image of a bridge over the Ebro River. A direct reference to the territory, to the passage of time and to the links that the CHE has forged with the public over the course of a century.

The color gold is another of the protagonists. This tone not only reinforces the commemorative nature of the image, but its gradient -from a darker gold to a brighter tone- also suggests the transition of these one hundred years: from terracotta and ocher to the brightness that projects the future. A visual metaphor of what this institution aspires to continue to be: a solid channel that connects generations, knowledge and experiences around water.

The centennial image will accompany a series of actions that are already underway and that will serve to share the value of this common history with the citizens. The objective is to open this anniversary to society, to highlight the public dimension and a participatory approach to water management in the 21st century.

A commemoration that connects with the principles of the Sustainable Ebro Strategy (2023-2027), especially with the axis of improving knowledge and with the management of cultural and historical heritage, as a way of bringing the history of water and of the institution itself closer to the citizens.

With this new logo, the CHE launches the visual story of the centenary, a 2026 to remember all that has been built and to project into the future the commitment to continue caring collectively, water and territory.
