RTVE Cantabria has echoed the inauguration in Reinosa of the exhibition Through the Basin of theEbro, with which the Ebro Water Authority begins the celebration of its centenary. The exhibition can be visited at La Casona de Reinosa until February 2026 and proposes a tour of one hundred years of water management in the largest hydrographic basin in Spain.
The exhibition addresses the territorial dimension of the Ebro basin and the evolution of water uses, from supply and industry to environmental protection. The tour is supported by videos, historical images, models and interactive resources, with special attention to the Ebro reservoir, a space linked to the birth of the river and the identity of the territory.
During the inauguration, the president of the CHE, Carlos Arrazola, explained the origin of the basin management model: «From an original idea of the engineer Manuel Lorenzo Pardo, with fundamentally two main ideas: one is that of the single basin management without administrative limits and the other is the integral management of hydraulic resources».
For his part, the commissioner of the centenary, Javier San Román, advanced new informative materials linked to the project: «We are preparing and very close to finishing a material that is 100 itineraries to get to know the Ebro basin, which will have some route around here too, which we believe is an invitation for everyone to get to know this extensive basin of 85,000 square kilometers».
After passing through Reinosa, the exhibition will continue its journey through seven other cities of the basin until reaching the mouth of the Ebro, within the program of activities of the CHE Centenary.
