Past, present, and future of water management in the Ebro

The Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro celebrates its centenary with a program that not only recalls the past, but also explains how the river basin management model was born, what it has meant for the territory and where it should move forward in a context marked by climate change and sustainability.

A year of activities throughout the basin

The commemoration will be deployed throughout the del Ebro territory. There will be a large central exhibition at the Palace of Sástago (Zaragoza), from October 2026 to January 2027.from October 2026 to January 2027, with documents, images and pieces that narrate a century of hydraulic management in Spain.

In addition, a traveling exhibition will tour eight cities -Reinosa, Miranda de Ebro, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Logroño, Pamplona, Huesca, Lleida and Tortosa- between December 2025 and January 2027.

The program is completed with a documentary, a book and a series of meetings with specialists, together with institutional events that will strengthen the Confederation’s link with society.

A platform to follow the centennial

The official website of the centenary will bring together the agenda, news and downloadable materials, and will reactivate the centennial blog as an open forum for reflection on water management and the future of the basin.

The centennial is not just a celebration: it is an invitation to learn about the origin of modern water management in Spain and to participate in a necessary conversation about the future of the Ebro.
