The centenary of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro is the theme for the ONCE lottery ticket on Thursday, March 5. Five million tickets will spread this celebration throughout Spain.
Pilar García Rotellar, Head of the Resource Management and Prevention Area, and Raquel Pérez, Delegate of ONCE Aragón, together with José Ángel Losada, Head of the Hydrological Planning Office Area, presented this ticket. They were accompanied by José Luis Catalán, President of the ONCE Territorial Council, and José Carlos Martínez, Head of the Operations and Logistics Department.
The Confederación Sindical Hidrográfica del Ebro was founded in 1926, becoming the first river basin authority in the world. Its creation was the work of engineer Manuel Lorenzo Pardo, who promoted the idea of integrated water management, considering the territory as a whole rather than by administrative boundaries. His approach reflected the regenerationist spirit of the time: linking hydraulic utilization with the economic and social development of the regions.
Throughout these one hundred years, the CHE has evolved with the times and the priorities of the society it serves. Progress has been made in efficient management and water quality, as well as in the fair and rational management of the public hydraulic domain and measures for environmental protection and native flora and fauna. Furthermore, the management of extreme phenomena has been reinforced, along with the application of Flood Risk Management Plans (PGRI) and Special Drought Plans (PES), which are of great importance in the current context of climate change.
The Ebro basin covers a total area of 85,534 square kilometers. It is the most extensive river basin in Spain, representing 17% of the Spanish peninsular territory, and is one of the primary European Mediterranean basins.
The ONCE Daily Ticket offers a prize of 500,000 euros for the number plus the series, and 49 prizes of 35,000 euros for the five digits of the winning number. Additionally, it offers 450 prizes of 250 euros for the first four digits and another 450 for the last four; 9,000 prizes of 25 euros for the last three or first three digits, and the same for the first two and last two digits (6 euros), as well as a 2-euro refund for the first or last digit of the winning number.
