Lleida, a city marked by the Segre River, has forged its identity around water. The Segre, an essential tributary of the Ebro, has shaped its orchards, promoted irrigation, and accompanied the agricultural and industrial development of the province. Since the Confederation’s inception, the CHE has considered Lleida a key territory: in 1928, the city hosted the first agricultural exhibition organized by the CHE, a pioneering event that demonstrated the city’s early involvement in the water management model.
Lleida’s relationship with the CHE has been historical and continues to be active, linked to regulation projects, irrigation infrastructures and environmental actions that have consolidated a participative and sustainable management of the resource. The traveling exhibition of the centenary is installed in the Sala Polivalent of the Museu de Lleida, in the heart of the city center, as a meeting place to remember this legacy and project it into the future.
