The Centenary Meetings<\/em> are a series of open conversations designed to bring the Confederaci\u00f3n Hidrogr\u00e1fica del Ebro’s centenary closer to the regions and the public. At each location, the session aims to view the river and its basin from different angles\u2014history, water management, landscape, heritage, and environmental challenges\u2014with an accessible, informative format designed for listening, asking questions, and understanding. This structure follows the approach already used on the Miranda de Ebro page. <\/p>\n\n

In Vitoria-Gasteiz<\/strong>, the session will be held under the title “Past, Present, and Future of Water Management in \u00c1lava”<\/strong> and will address two issues particularly linked to the territory, the evolution of water management, and inter-institutional collaboration. Participants will include Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Sanz de Galdeano Equiza<\/strong>, with the presentation “The Zadorra System: Evolution, Risk Management, and Institutional Collaboration”<\/strong>, and \u00c1ngel Llamazares \u00c1lvarez<\/strong>, with the talk “Public Urban Water Management in \u00c1lava: The Essential Collaboration Between Institutions. A Vision from AMVISA (Vitoria-Gasteiz)”<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The session will take place on June 18, 2026<\/strong>, at 5:30 PM<\/strong>, at the Ataria Interpretation Center<\/strong>, and is part of the Confederaci\u00f3n Hidrogr\u00e1fica del Ebro’s centenary program of activities in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It will be an opportunity to bring together different perspectives on water management in \u00c1lava: the evolution of the Zadorra system, risk management, the role of planning, and inter-administrative cooperation in public urban water management. <\/p>\n\n

Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Sanz de Galdeano Equiza<\/strong> has been Director of Planning and Works since the creation of the Basque Water Agency (URA), an agency of the Basque Government responsible for water policy in the Basque Country. He has developed his entire professional career in the field of water management, with responsibilities in hydrological planning, flood risk management, land use planning, and the processing of authorizations and concessions in internal basins. He has extensive experience in institutional coordination regarding water matters. <\/p>\n\n

\u00c1ngel Llamazares \u00c1lvarez<\/strong> is an industrial engineer who has developed his professional career in the water sector, both in private and public management. Between 2006 and 2024, he was the manager of AMVISA<\/strong>, Vitoria-Gasteiz’s public urban water management company, where he promoted management models focused on public service and institutional collaboration. He is currently retired. <\/p>\n\n
