DESCRIPTION:Pamplona\, crossed by the Arga River\, has always been linked to the Ebro basin and the management of its tributaries in Navarra. The Arga\, which runs through the city and its surrounding farmlands\, has shaped the daily life\, urban development\, and cultural and historical identity of the region. Since the first steps of the Confederation in 1926\, Navarra has played an active role in hydraulic planning\, with irrigation projects\, flow regulation\, and environmental actions aimed at water sustainability.   \n\nPamplona’s relationship with the CHE has a foundational character: a key place in the basin that recalls the value of territorial participation in this pioneering management model. The centennial exhibition is installed in the Gothic Hall of the Palacio del Condestable\, in the heart of the historic center\, as a meeting place that connects this collective memory with the present.

SUMMARY:Meetings in Pamplona
DESCRIPTION:The Centenary Meetings are a series of open conversations designed to bring the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro’s centenary closer to the regions and the public. At each location\, the session aims to view the river and its basin from different angles—history\, water management\, landscape\, heritage\, and environmental challenges—with an accessible\, informative format designed for listening\, asking questions\, and understanding.  \n\nIn Pamplona\, the session will be held under the title “Conversations on the Rivers of Navarra: Risk Reduction\, Heritage\, and Culture” and will address two issues particularly linked to the Navarra territory: adaptation to floods and the role of water as a cultural\, heritage\, and social connecting axis. \n\nParticipants will include Luis Sanz Azcárate\, with the presentation “Floods in Navarra: From Control to Adaptation. Institutional Cooperation to Reduce Risk”\, and José Antonio Perales Díaz\, with the talk “Connecting Cultures: Bridges and Mills of Navarra”. \n\nThe session will take place on July 30\, at 6:00 PM\, at the Palacio del Condestable (Pamplona)\, and is part of the CHE centenary activity program in Pamplona. It will be an opportunity to bring together different perspectives on the rivers of Navarra: flood risk management\, inter-administrative cooperation\, the evolution of adaptation policies\, and the cultural memory associated with water-related bridges\, mills\, trades\, and landscapes.  \n\nLuis Sanz Azcárate holds a PhD in Biology and is the water area director at OREKAN – Gestión Ambiental de Navarra\, a public environmental company of the Government of Navarra where he has worked for over 20 years. He has developed his professional career in the field of water management in Navarra\, supporting the development of water quality and water resource monitoring networks\, and participating in various works and projects linked to hydrological planning and flood risk management.  \n\nJosé Antonio Perales Díaz holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Autonomous University of Madrid and is a collaborating professor at the Public University of Navarra. He currently combines teaching and research with the dissemination of cultural heritage. He is the author of Living from the River: Water Trades in the Ribera de Navarra and directs the Agua y memoria project\, linked to the Intangible Heritage Chair of Navarra at UPNA. In his presentation\, he will address the role of the bridges and mills of Navarra as elements connecting territory\, culture\, and memory.    \n\nAdmission is free until capacity is reached.
