SUMMARY:VITORIA-GASTEIZ Centennial Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Vitoria-Gasteiz\, recognized as the European Green Capital in 2012\, is an example of the integration of nature\, city\, and sustainability. Located at the gateway to the Green Belt\, the Ataria Interpretation Center offers a unique view of the Salburua wetlands\, one of the most valuable wetlands in the northern peninsula. This environment of high ecological value connects the city with the river landscapes of the Ebro basin\, creating a space where water\, biodiversity\, and environmental awareness are interrelated. \n\nAtaria is more than just an outreach center. It is a meeting point for environmental education\, citizen participation\, and scientific research on water management and wetland conservation. The Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro (CHE) maintains close collaboration with Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Salburua area\, promoting river restoration projects and raising awareness about the sustainable use of water resources. \n\nThe CHE centenary traveling exhibition at Ataria invites visitors to journey through the history of Ebro management\, exploring how cooperation between administrations and citizens has enabled the protection of water-related ecosystems and guaranteed a balance between urban development and natural conservation. In this context\, Vitoria-Gasteiz presents itself as a model city that has integrated the river and wetlands into its identity\, demonstrating that sustainability is the path to the future.

SUMMARY:Meetings in Vitoria-Gasteiz
DESCRIPTION:The Centenary Meetings are a series of open conversations designed to bring the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro’s centenary closer to the regions and the public. At each location\, the session aims to view the river and its basin from different angles—history\, water management\, landscape\, heritage\, and environmental challenges—with an accessible\, informative format designed for listening\, asking questions\, and understanding. This structure follows the approach already used on the Miranda de Ebro page. \n\nIn Vitoria-Gasteiz\, the session will be held under the title “Past\, Present\, and Future of Water Management in Álava” and will address two issues particularly linked to the territory\, the evolution of water management\, and inter-institutional collaboration. Participants will include José María Sanz de Galdeano Equiza\, with the presentation “The Zadorra System: Evolution\, Risk Management\, and Institutional Collaboration”\, and Ángel Llamazares Álvarez\, with the talk “Public Urban Water Management in Álava: The Essential Collaboration Between Institutions. A Vision from AMVISA (Vitoria-Gasteiz)”. \n\nThe session will take place on June 18\, 2026\, at 5:30 PM\, at the Ataria Interpretation Center\, and is part of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro’s centenary program of activities in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It will be an opportunity to bring together different perspectives on water management in Álava: the evolution of the Zadorra system\, risk management\, the role of planning\, and inter-administrative cooperation in public urban water management. \n\nJosé María Sanz de Galdeano Equiza has been Director of Planning and Works since the creation of the Basque Water Agency (URA)\, an agency of the Basque Government responsible for water policy in the Basque Country. He has developed his entire professional career in the field of water management\, with responsibilities in hydrological planning\, flood risk management\, land use planning\, and the processing of authorizations and concessions in internal basins. He has extensive experience in institutional coordination regarding water matters. \n\nÁngel Llamazares Álvarez is an industrial engineer who has developed his professional career in the water sector\, both in private and public management. Between 2006 and 2024\, he was the manager of AMVISA\, Vitoria-Gasteiz’s public urban water management company\, where he promoted management models focused on public service and institutional collaboration. He is currently retired. \n\nAdmission is free until full capacity is reached

SUMMARY:PAMPLONA Centennial Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Pamplona\, crossed by the Arga River\, has always been linked to the Ebro basin and the management of its tributaries in Navarra. The Arga\, which runs through the city and its surrounding farmlands\, has shaped the daily life\, urban development\, and cultural and historical identity of the region. Since the first steps of the Confederation in 1926\, Navarra has played an active role in hydraulic planning\, with irrigation projects\, flow regulation\, and environmental actions aimed at water sustainability. \n\nPamplona’s relationship with the CHE has a foundational character: a key place in the basin that recalls the value of territorial participation in this pioneering management model. The centennial exhibition is installed in the Gothic Hall of the Palacio del Condestable\, in the heart of the historic center\, as a meeting place that connects this collective memory with the present.

SUMMARY:LLEIDA Centennial Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Lleida\, a city marked by the Segre River\, has forged its identity around water. The Segre\, an essential tributary of the Ebro\, has shaped its orchards\, promoted irrigation\, and accompanied the agricultural and industrial development of the province. Since the Confederation’s inception\, the CHE has considered Lleida a key territory: in 1928\, the city hosted the first agricultural exhibition organized by the CHE\, a pioneering event that demonstrated the city’s early involvement in the water management model. Lleida’s relationship with the CHE has been historical and continues to be active\, linked to regulation projects\, irrigation infrastructures and environmental actions that have consolidated a participative and sustainable management of the resource. The traveling exhibition of the centenary is installed in the Sala Polivalent of the Museu de Lleida\, in the heart of the city center\, as a meeting place to remember this legacy and project it into the future.

SUMMARY:ZARAGOZA Centennial Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The central exhibition of the CHE is held in Zaragoza\, the city where the world’s first hydrographic confederation was born and the current institutional headquarters of the organization\, in the historic building on Paseo de Sagasta. \n\nThe exhibition\, located in the Palacio de Sástago\, covers one hundred years of history of water management in the del Ebro basin. From the pioneering model promoted by Lorenzo Pardo in 1926 to the current sustainability plans\, Zaragoza has been and is the axis of a technical\, social and environmental system that connects nine autonomous communities through the river. The exhibition shows the role of the CHE in the transformation of the territory: hydraulic infrastructures\, river restoration projects\, technological advances\, citizen participation initiatives and programs for the protection of the natural environment. \n\nZaragoza and the Ebro share a common history. This exhibition is also a meeting point for citizens\, institutions and agents of the territory to reflect on the future of the river that unites us.

SUMMARY:HUESCA Centennial Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The traveling exhibition of the centenary of the CHE reaches Huesca\, a city linked to the Isuela River and its tributaries. From the first irrigation projects to the construction of major hydraulic infrastructures in the province of Huesca\, the province of Huesca has played a decisive role in the history of the CHE\, actively participating in agricultural transformation\, rural development and coordinated water management. \n\nThe close collaboration between Huesca and the CHE dates back to the beginnings of the organization in 1926\, a key link to ensure water security and sustainable use of resources. This trajectory is now remembered in the Nave II of the Manuel Benito Moliner Cultural Center\, a building of industrial architecture from the beginning of the 20th century\, declared a Catalogued Asset of the Aragonese Cultural Heritage. \n\nThe exhibition covers one hundred years of water management in the Ebro basin\, combining explanatory panels\, historical photographs\, models\, and audiovisual content. The aim is to bring the importance of sustainable water management closer to the public\, an essential pillar for the present and future of local communities.
