SUMMARY:MIRANDA DE EBRO Centennial Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Miranda de Ebro is a city marked by the river that gives it its name. Located on the border between Castile and León and the Basque Country\, the Ebro has been a natural frontier throughout history\, but also a place of encounter\, exchange\, and development. The medieval bridge\, the old factories\, and the urban structure itself bear witness to the fundamental role of water in the local identity and daily life of its inhabitants. \n\nThe crossing of the Ebro River has boosted the economy\, industry\, and mobility\, turning Miranda into a strategic communications hub and a benchmark for water management in the basin. The city has experienced historic floods\, transformed its riverbanks\, and adapted to the challenges of modern water management. \n\nThe Ebro River has boosted the economy\, and Miranda de Ebro’s relationship with the Ebro River Basin Authority dates back to the early 20th century\, with the regulation of water flows and the improvement of infrastructure to protect the city and guarantee its water supply. Today\, Miranda continues to be an example of coexistence with the river and the integration of public water management into urban and social development.

SUMMARY:MARCH 5: CHE ANNIVERSARY (1926–2026)
DESCRIPTION:Today\, March 5\, 2026\, marks one hundred years since the signing of the Royal Decree that ordered the creation of the Confederación Sindical Hidrográfica de la cuenca del Ebro (CSHE)\, the direct predecessor of today’s Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro (CHE). \n\nThe text was published the following day\, March 6\, in the Gaceta de Madrid\, and established a principle that changed the way water is managed: basin-based planning (the river’s natural unit and its tributaries)\, above administrative boundaries. \n\nThat approach—driven by a technical\, long-term vision—sought to coordinate uses\, works and conservation under a single territorial logic. A century later\, that idea remains valid\, with more complex challenges: longer droughts\, faster floods\, and greater demand for transparency in public management. Would you like to know the full context?.Explore the centenary’s history in our timeline.

SUMMARY:Meetings in Reinosa
DESCRIPTION:The Centenary of the Ebro River Basin Authority (CHE) opens a space for dialogue in Reinosa about the territory\, the Ebro Reservoir\, and the history that links the city to water management. This meeting is designed to listen\, understand\, and take a fresh look at a landscape that is part of everyday life in the region. \n\nThe meeting will feature Agustín Monteoliva Herreras\, who will present “Environmental aspects of the Ebro Reservoir”\, and Rogelio Galván Plaza\, with the talk “The birth of the Confederation and the Ebro Reservoir”. \n\nThe session will take place on January 15\, 2026 and is part of the CHE Centenary programme of activities. It will be an opportunity to bring together different perspectives on the reservoir: its current situation\, the environmental challenges it poses\, and the historical context in which its management is framed. \n\nAgustín Monteoliva Herreras holds a PhD in Biology and is the director of Ecohydros\, S. L.\, an environmental consultancy company based in Cantabria dedicated to the analysis and management of aquatic systems. He has held this position since October 2003 and has taken part in more than a hundred regional\, national\, and international technical and scientific projects related to inland water bodies\, reservoirs\, and environmental monitoring programmes. \n\nRogelio Galván Plaza is a technical engineer in public works and holds a degree in History. He has worked at the Ebro River Basin Authority since 1998 and currently heads the Economic and Social Studies Service of the Hydrological Planning Office. As the institutional coordinator of the Water Experts Network\, he regularly takes part in technical work and specialist forums on hydrological planning and environmental management of the basin\, bringing a historical and social perspective to the analysis of water resources.

SUMMARY:REINOSA Centennial exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Reinosa\, located next to the Fontibre springs\, is the birthplace of the Ebro and the meeting point of roads\, landscapes and cultures of the north of the peninsula. The city and its surroundings have always been linked to water management\, both in everyday life and in the industrial and social memory of the Campoo region. From the regulation of the reservoir to the paper and metallurgical tradition\, the Ebro has been an engine of development and a central element in the identity of Reinosa. \n\nThe relationship between Reinosa and the CHE is historical. Here the del Ebro reservoir was designed and some of the first hydraulic infrastructures of the basin were promoted\, marking the beginning of a coordinated and sustainable management of the resource.
