SUMMARY:Meetings in Logroño
DESCRIPTION:The Centenary Meetings are a series of open conversations designed to bring the centenary of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro closer to the territories and citizens. At each venue\, the session offers a look at the river and its basin from various perspectives (history\, water management\, landscape\, heritage\, and environmental challenges)\, using an accessible\, informative format intended for listening\, questioning\, and understanding. \n\nIn Logroño\, the session will be held under the title “Conversations on the Middle Ebro: River Restoration and Urban Space” and will address two issues closely linked to the territory: river restoration and the relationship between city\, nature\, and urban space. \n\nParticipants will include Alfredo Ollero Ojeda\, with the presentation “River Restoration and Hydromorphology in the Ebro Basin\,” and Pablo de la Cal Nicolás\, with the talk “Renaturalization in the City. Limits and Desires.” \n\nThe session will take place on May 14\, 2026\, at 6:00 PM\, at the Casa de las Ciencias in Logroño\, a venue already included in the centenary agenda as the host for the program’s exhibition in the city. \n\nIt will be an opportunity to bring two complementary perspectives on the Middle Ebro to the public: on the one hand\, the study of river dynamics\, hydromorphology\, and channel restoration; on the other\, reflection on urban renaturalization and the limits and possibilities of integrating water and nature into the contemporary city. \n\nAlfredo Ollero Ojeda is a professor and researcher at the Universidad de Zaragoza\, specializing in physical geography\, fluvial geomorphology\, flood risk\, and river restoration. Associated with the IUCA\, he has an extensive career studying the Middle Ebro\, channel dynamics\, and territorial river management\, participating in numerous research and outreach projects on hydromorphology and fluvial resilience. \n\nPablo de la Cal Nicolás is an architect and professor of Urban Planning and Spatial Planning at the Universidad de Zaragoza. A doctor in architecture\, with training at the Universidad de Navarra and Harvard\, he has an extensive professional and academic career in urban planning\, landscape\, urban regeneration\, and the relationship between city\, nature\, and territory. \n\nAdmission is free until capacity is reached.
